My name is Jenny, but most people call me JYK. (My full name is Jenny Y. Kim; some of my friends thought it'd be funny to start calling me by my full initials, and the name has stuck ever since.)

I'm originally from Newton, a town right outside of Boston. After graduating from Wellesley College back in 2008, I did what any responsible and respectable college graduate would do. I got a full-time job.

I spent about a year and a half working for an IT consulting firm. And while the job paid the bills and afforded me to live in the downtown area of the city, I knew it wasn't something I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life.

And so, without further a dieu, I took a bartending course at a local bartending school, learned how to make the basic drinks, got my bartending certification, landed my first bartending gig at a lounge, and started learning the ins-and-outs of working as a bartender in the service industry.

I've since worked at multiple venues including a high-end restaurant/lounge, dive bar, and a few clubs. Over the years, I've picked up various tricks of the trade, cocktail recipes, and other valuable information that I would like to share on my website. So whether you're an aspiring bartender or simply want to hone your bartending skills to impress your family and friends, you've come to the perfect place!

During the initial training as a bartender, I had to memorize a bunch of new signature cocktail drinks that were specific to the bar or lounge.

That's when I started experimenting with different drink recipes and absorbed as much as I could about making cocktail drinks and bartending.

Why did I decide to write a website about organic cocktail recipes?

Well, I've always been interested in an organic lifestyle. I sort of grew up around it.

My family was always shopping at the local farmer's market or organic produce store. So the idea of using organic produce and fruits was almost second-nature to me.

As most of us are aware, Organic fruits are high in antioxidants and vitamins, and lack both the pesticide and insecticide that their conventional counterparts do have.

Organic produce, are therefore much healthier and safer to eat. By adding them to organic spirits/alcohol, you can produce a delicious yet healthy drink that won't weigh on your conscience.

Using this as my concept and basis, I decided to marry both my experience in bartending and my interest in an organic lifestyle to fuel ideas for a website.

Moreover, simply and honestly put, I wanted a way to record and share these recipes, in addition to my bartending experience.

The trouble was, I didn't know how exactly I would do that.

I thought about starting a blog of some sort.

And that's when my mom stepped in and introduced me to Site-Build-It as a way to write about content that I'm passionate about and potentially earn some money while doing something that I love.
