This rum-based cocktail is another tropical favorite.
Its sweet taste coupled with the
coconut flavors makes this drink a great cocktail to drink while you're vacationing on a tropical
island or in the mood to escape the summer heat.
I've seen quite a few variations, and depending on the bartender, the bar, or region you're in, you'll probably encounter
slight variations to the Bahama Mama recipe.
The few ingredients that remain consistent are the high proof rum and dark rum, coconut liquer, and pineapple juice.
If you for some reason, you can't find high proof rum, feel free to use regular light rum. Unfortunately, I haven't
encountered any organic high proof rum, so you might just have to use something like Bacardi 151.
I've seen people add cranberry juice for added color. You can also add Amaretto or almond-flavored liqueur.
This cocktail usually gets served in a collins glass, but you can use a highball glass or even a pint glass
depending on how big the drink is.
In the recipe that I've provided below, I added 1/2 oz. of coffee liqueur to round out that
sweetness of the drink, but you can pretty much experiement with different flavors, substituting the
coffee liqueur for various other flavors to see what suits your taste.
