Creme de Cacao

Creme de Cacao is a great ingredient to add to your repertoire of
cocktail ingredients. It is one of the three types of chocolate
liquer, which includes cream liqueur and liqueur.
The French word 'creme' in the name may be misleading, leading you to
think that there is in fact dairy in this liqueur when there isn't. The
term actually refers to the creamy texture of the liqueur.
Often scented with vanilla, this chocolate liqueur comes in two forms
-
dark or white, the former being a dark brown, almost black color
while the latter is a clear, colorless form of the same liqueur.
The
alcohol content for creme de cacao usually ranges from
20-25%, and can be consumed straight, however, most of the time, it is
mixed with other ingredients to concoct delicious, chocolate-flavored
cocktails.
Make Organic Chocolate Liqueur
Ingredients
- 4
oz. of organic dark chocolate
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 3
eggs
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 2 cups of Organic
Vodka
- 1 shot of espresso
- 1.5 teaspoon of organic
vanilla extract
Directions - Chop the chocolate into small bite-sized
pieces
- Add the chocolate and cream in a bowl and place into a
pot of water
- Melt over medium heat, stirring constantly
- Once completely melted, allow it to cool off
- Add the eggs,
vanilla extract into a bowl and mix
- Add the chocolate and
espresso in and whisk till thoroughly mixed
- Slowly, add the
vodka and stir until completely incoroporated into the mix
- Pour
the mixed content into a glass bottle
- Place in refrigerator and
let chill for 3-6 hours before serving
You can also use whiskey as the alcoholic base, which will give it a
stronger, richer flavor.

Ingredients - 1.5 oz
of organic vodka
- 1/2 oz of creme de cacao
- 1/2 oz of
organic whole milk
Directions - Pour all the ingredients into a shaker
- Shake well, until frothy
- Pour into a chilled martini
glass
Almond Chocolate Kiss
Ingredients - 1 oz of
organic vodka
- 1/2 oz of organic almond extract
- 1/2 oz
of whole organic milk
- 1/2 oz of chocolate liqueur
Directions - Pour the contents into a shaker filled with
ice
- Shake until frothy
- Pour into a chilled martini
glass
