Planter's Punch

The Planter's Punch cocktail is a sweet, rum-based cocktail served in a highball glass.

It consists of the following ingredients: dark rum, fresh lemon juice, grenadine syrup, and soda water. And one more ingredient: Agnostura Bitters

Angostura bitters is a type of bitters made from water, a high concentration of alcohol, genetian root, and different vegetable flavoring.

It's primarily used for extra flavoring in different dishes and cocktails such as the old-fashioned and our drink, planter's punch.

The origins of this drink isn't quite clear.

Some believe that it was originally first invented in Planter's Hotel in St. Louis while others claim that the name comes from a planter's wife who served the drink as a way to refresh and cool the plantation workers.

The drink's relatively easy-to-make recipe makes this an ideal drink to serve as a party punch.

It's not too strong, but not too sweet, and appeals to a wide range of palates which makes this drink a party favorite.

To make into a punch, simply increase the ratio of the ingredients and mix in a big, glass bowl.

You can also use juices such as pineapple and orange for added sweetness and flavor. The recipe I offer is just one version for this drink, however, there are a variety of different ways to concoct this cocktail.
